Beylerbeyi Palace
Beylerbeyi Palace is the largest and most elegant Ottoman Palace
on the Asian Shore of the Bosphorus.
Beylerbeyi Palace and the neighbourhood was named for a
beylerbeyi, a title which menas " lord of lords", this was
Mehmet Pasha, Governor of Rumelia ( Turkish Territory in
European Side. The first sultan who resided here was Mahmud II.
It was constructed in 1861-65 by Sarkis Balyan, a famous
Armenian Architect. 5000 people from all over Anatolia including
the best masters worked for the construction. There will be
optional shopping opportunity before having Lunch.
City Walls
Constantinople's great city walls were breached only twice in
1600 years. The first breach occured in 1204 during the fourth
Crusade; the second breach was led by “Sultan Mehmet the
Conqueror” in 1453 with cannons and troops.
